Arrive at Raipur Railway Station/Airport and transfer to Hotel. After some rest you will proceed for local sightseeing of Raipur SHADANI DARBAR, DOODHADHARI MONASTERY, and MAHAKOSHAL ART GALLARY etc. Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh, is known for its temples, lakes, factories, educational centres as well as the development of Naya Raipur.
Overnight stay at Raipur
Today we will drive to Bhoramdeo, the region of the BAIGA TRIBES. In the afternoon we shall have lunch at Bhoramdeo Jungle resort and take a walk in the old BHORAMDEO TEMPLE complex. Later in the noon we shall move on to CHILIPI WEEKLY MARKET which commences only on Thursdays. Return back to the resort.
BHORAMDEO TEMPLE
The Bhoramdeo Temple bears a striking resemblance to the Sun Temple of Konark and is believed to have been constructed during the 7th to 12th century. It is popularly known as the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh as it also resembles the Khajuraho Temple of Madhya Pradesh. It is the main temple among the bunch of four ancient temples in this region – Madwa Mahal, Istaliq Temple, Cherki Mahal and Bhoramdeo temple – and stands as strong as ever in the Kabirdham district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
In the morning we shall visit the villages of the BAIGA. Meet the people and interact with them, see their daily life and methods of cultivation and irrigation. In the afternoon we shall visit the famous weekly market at TAREGAON which commences only on Fridays. Overnight at Resort
Today we are going to return back to Raipur. On the way we shall stop by at OLD RAJIM TEMPLE which is considered to be the Prayag of Chattisgarh. The Temple is around 1000 years old and is surprising to see it still stand tall in all its glory. The temple building has beautiful architecture; complex is very neat and clean.
Today we will drive to Kanker region of MURIA GONDS. We shall visit one of the villages and request to see one of the interesting DEER MASKED DANCE. Kanker offers magnificent views with mountains, waterfalls, and five rivers. The place also boasts of historical significance which dates back to the Stone Ages. Overnight will be at Kanker.
After Breakfast we will drive to Jagdalpur region of the GOND TRIBES. Jagdalpur is a destination which will make you explore the beauty of the unique tribal villages and captivating wildlife of Chhattisgarh. We shall visit the colourful weekly market at Tokapal. Betting here takes place in the form of cock fights. In the evening we can also visit the ANTHROPOLOGICAL MUSEUM.
In the morning we shall visit CHITRAKOTE WATERFALLS, also known as the Niagra falls of India. The afternoon will be spent to visit villages of the Maria gond tribe. A traditional dance can be arranged as per request. Return back to hotel.
After having your breakfast, leave back for Raipur by road. Enroute, you can take a side trip to NARAYANPUR. Narayanpur is known for its unique handicrafts. Handicrafts from this place are known as the best in the Bastar region. It offers many items such as bell metal, wrought iron, woodcraft and bamboo artifacts. You can also visit RAMAKRISHNA MISSION CENTER which is a major tourist attraction at Narayanpur. On arrival in Raipur, check-in to the hotel and have a comfortable stay at night.
Have your breakfast and take a transfer to the airport/railway station for your onward journey. Get back home with some wonderful memories.
