In Gwalior, explore in the magnificent architecture of Gwalior Fort. In the quaint town of Orchha, seek blessings at the sacred Shri Ramraja Temple and Chaturbhuj Temple. You will also get a chance to see the Hindu and Jain temples of Khajuraho that have been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Arrive at Gwalior airport/railway station; after a warm welcome, you will be transferred to your already booked hotel in Gwalior. Check in at the hotel and relax. Post lunch, we will leave for the local sightseeing tour of the city. We will start our tour by visiting the GWALIOR FORT, one of the largest forts in India. Build in the 8th-century by Man Singh Tomar, this hill fort comprises of two main palaces, a defensive structure, MAN MANDIR and GURJARI MAHAL.
After exploring Gwalior’s beautiful hill fort, we will proceed to visit the famous VISHNU TEMPLE and seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. This temple was built in the 11th century and has a stunning interior that grabs tourists’ attention. Later VISIT THE SURYA MANDIR OR SUN TEMPLE, as the name suggests, the temple is dedicated to the holy Sun God and was constructed in the year 1988 by the famous industrialist G.D. Birla. Built on the lines of legendary Sun Temple at Konark, Orissa, the Sun Temple of Gwalior is a magnificent amalgam of exquisite architecture in red sandstone and pearly white marble.
ADD ON: SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW AT GWALIOR FORT
The Gwalior Fort hosts a spectacular sound and light show every evening. This show is extremely well executed and makes you feel as if you are a part of the rich history of the fort and the love story of Raja Man Singh and his queen Mrignayani. The show takes place in the amphitheatre at the Man Mandir.
In the evening, after sightseeing of Gwalior, return back to hotel for overnight stay in Gwalior.
After breakfast at hotel, check out and drive to ORCHHA via the historic city of JHANSI. Visit the major tourist attractions in Jhansi, the JHANSI FORT and THE GOVERNMENT MUSEUM.
Located in the Jhansi Fort, this museum gives you an insight to the history of Jhansi and Bundelkhand. Besides this in this museum you can also get to know more about the Chandela dynasty who ruled Jhansi during the medieval period. The Jhansi Museum is a storehouse of different artifacts of the bygone era. It houses weapons, statues, dresses and photographs that represent the Chandela dynasty.
THE RANI MAHAL of Jhansi is one of the most interesting tourist spots in Jhansi. This is the palace of Lakshmi Bai. One of the architectural marvels of Jhansi it has carefully treasured the remnants of the past era.
Later drive to Orchha. On reaching Orchha, transfer to pre-booked hotel at Orchha.
We will leave to visit the popular temples in Orchha like such as the LAKSHMI NARAYAN TEMPLE AND CHATURBHUJ TEMPLE. The ancient temples of Orchha were built in the 16th and 17th century by Bundela rulers. Also visit JEHANGIR MAHAL built in the 17th century, to commemorate the visit of the emperor Jehangir. After witnessing the indescribable beauty of the temples and Palaces of Orchha, we will return back to the hotel for a comfortable night stay.
Orchha is a beautiful town located on the Betwa River in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. It was established by Rudra Pratap Singh in the 16th century as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of central India. The town today is counted among the major tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh. It is just 15 km away from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
After breakfast in the morning, we will check out from the hotel in Orchha and drive to Khajuraho. On reaching, check in at the already booked hotel and thereafter leave to visit the Western Group of Khajuraho which comprise of 14 gorgeous temples, including MATANGESVARA, CHAUNSATH YOGINI, KANDARIYA MAHADEO, VARAHA, PARVATI, LALGUAN MAHADEV, LAKSHMANA, AND NANDI, CHITRAGUPTA DEVI AND JAGDAMBA.
Later enjoy an optional SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW at the Western Group of temples complex in Khajuraho (to be paid directly), which reminds the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and mark out the story of the exclusive temples from the 10th Century to the present day. The 50-minute fascinating show is held in every evening and it runs in Hindi and in English. After exploring these beautiful temples, we will return back to the hotel for a stress free overnight stay.
KHAJURAHO has been recognized as a WORLD HERITAGE SITE BY UNESCO for sheltering many ancient temples and historical places of public interest. It is one of the major pilgrim centres in India that is visited by thousands of tourists from across the globe.
In the morning after breakfast, we will go to explore the EASTERN GROUP OF KHAJURAHO which houses seven temples. Out of them, three are Hindu temples and four are Jain temples. The name of the seven temples of eastern group includes VAMANA, JAVARI, THE PARSVANATH, ADINATH, SHANTINATH GHANTAI TEMPLE AND BRAHMA. The PARSVANATHA TEMPLE is the largest one among all. Have witnessing to the natural beauty of these temples; we will be back to our hotel for a comfortable night stay.
After completing your breakfast, check out hotel, transfer to Khajuraho/Gwalior airport (276 kms-4.5 hrs)/railway station or Jhansi (174 kms/3 HRS) Railway Station.
