Amritsar, derived from “Amrit Sarovar” or the ‘pool of nectar’, which the is divine pool of Harmandir Sahib or Golden people as it is known as popularly is the centre of all Sikh action.
This 2-night/3-days itinerary includes some of the most popular tourist attractions of Amritsar: the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and Gobindgarh Fort, sightseeing in Amritsar including the very popular Wagah Border.
Arrive at Amritsar airport/railway station and get transferred to the hotel. Later, freshen up and visit ATTARI WAGAH BORDER (subject to operation) – to witness the prestigious lowering of the flags ceremony daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959.
You may also opt to enjoy the Sound & Light Show at GOBINDGARH FORT subject to operation (tickets on direct Payment Basis). Gobindgarh Fort is a historic military fort located in the centre of the city of Amritsar.
Overnight stay at Amritsar hotel
After breakfast pay tribute to JALLIANWALA BAGH – a historic garden and memorial of national importance preserved in the memory of those who were killed in the Jallianwala Massacre that happened on 13th April 1919 and Partition Museum – world’s first Museum dedicated to the Partition of 1947. We then visit GOLDEN TEMPLE – also known as HARMANDIR SAHIB OR DARBAR SAHIB is the holiest Gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism, here we also see AKAL TAKHT – throne of immortal and highest seat of authority of Khalsa. By evening, proceed to shop in the local markets. Later you return to the hotel room for overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Amritsar airport/railway station for your onward journey.
