Day 2TIRANA - KRUJA - SHKODER

Tirana – Kruja: 1 hr 15 m, 40 km

Kruja- Rragam: 2 hrs, 88 km

Rragam – Shkodër: 22 m, 14 km

Kruja (also spelled Krujë) is a historic town in central Albania, located about 30 kilometers north of the capital, Tirana. It is best known as the center of resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century, led by Albania’s national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg.

Drive to Rragam

Eat lunch at Zemra e Ballkanit, traditional Albanian restaurant by the water with fish and meat menus. (VEGETARIAN OPTION AVAILABLE. Vegan options are very limited and not recommended for a pleasurable experience.)

Boat ride Shurdha island, head to Sarda, island which contains a 12th to 13th century ruins of a church. Once an Illyrian settlement. Return to the mainland.

Drive to Shkodër.

Shkodër is one of Albania’s oldest and most historically significant cities, located in the northwest of the country near the border with Montenegro. It is often considered the cultural capital of Albania due to its rich heritage, vibrant arts scene, and historical landmarks.

Day 3SHKODER-DURRES-BERAT

Shkoder – Durres: 2hr 30 m, 105 km

Durres – Berat: 1hr 40 m, 98 km

Durrës, the ancient Dyrrhachium, stands as one of the oldest and most historically significant cities in Albania. Throughout antiquity, it flourished under Greek, Roman, and Byzantine rule, playing a pivotal role in regional commerce and military strategy.

Day 5VLORA - SARANDA

Saranda, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Albanian Riviera,” is a stunning coastal city in southern Albania, located along the Ionian Sea. Just a short ferry ride from Corfu, Greece, Saranda is known for its turquoise waters, lively atmosphere, and rich ancient history.

Visit Saranda.

  • In Saranda, visit by speed boat a mussel plantation and observe the processes by which seafood is made for sale in restaurants.
  • Enjoy a delicious meal.

Day 6SARANDA - BUTRINT - GJIROKASTRA

Gjirokastër, often called the “Stone City,” is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in southern Albania. Nestled in the Drino Valley and surrounded by mountains, this city is famous for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture, cobblestone streets, and rich historical significance. Gjirokastër is also the birthplace of Albania’s former communist leader, Enver Hoxha, and the renowned writer Ismail Kadare.
