Itinerary

Day 1GUWAHATI ARRIVAL AND PROCEED TO KAZIRANGA [192 KM / 5 HRS]

Arrive at Guwahati Airport /Railway Station and start your journey towards Kaziranga. Kaziranga National Park, located 192 KM from Guwahati, covering an area of 430 sq-km, is inhabited by the World’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a WORLD HERITAGE SITE BY UNESCO for its unique natural environment. Go to bed early for the next day morning Kaziranga Tour Package. Night Stay at the hotel in Kaziranga

Day 2KAZIRANGA JUNGLE SAFARI [WESTERN RANGE AND CENTRAL RANGE]

After an early wake-up, you will proceed to the riding point for KAZIRANGA ELEPHANT SAFARI in the Western Range [Bagori Range]. Watch the famous One-Horn Rhino within the jungle from stone throwing distance. After the elephant safari, return to the Resort.

Post lunch, drive to Kaziranga Central Range [Kaziranga Range] for the Kaziranga Jeep Safari. The Central zone of the Kaziranga National Park is the prime zone for the ecotourism in the Kaziranga forest.

The entry gate to the central zone is situated just about two km from the National Highway and passing through the village of Kohora. The Jeep safari offers you some spectacular sighting of the Rhinos grazing or wallowing in the massive grassland, a herd of elephants with having the adorable baby elephants to big old elephants in the herd, and many other species of the wild flora and fauna of this tourism zone. Night Stay at the hotel in Kaziranga.

Day 3TRANSFER FROM KAZIRANGA TO SHILLONG [254 KMS / 6 HRS]

Post Breakfast, start for Shillong, the SCOTLAND OF THE EAST and capital of Meghalaya. Shillong, Located in between Surma and Brahmaputra valley, offers lovely climatic conditions, something that honeymooners love the most. The town is once dominated by the Britishers and still bears an English appeal, which allures visitors. On the way, visit:

UMIUM LAKE – It is the Largest Man Made Lake of North East India more popularly known as BARAPANI. The lake situated just 15 km from Shillong on the Guwahati-Shillong National Highway has left a lasting impression on every person who has come to this lake. The Water Sports Complex provides a choice of row-boats, paddle-boats, cruise boats, sailing boats, water scooters, and speed boats. A lake region is a prominent place for a picnic, fishing, and water sports. Arrive at Shillong, check-in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4SHILLONG SIGHTSEEING

After a breakfast; proceed for popular sightseeing places in or nearby Shillong, Visit:

ELEPHANTA FALLS – It is located 12 km on the outskirts of the capital city Shillong. The mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks. At a short distance beyond the falls, there are two smaller falls, which are none the less beautiful and captivating. These are the “Wei Laplam Falls” and the “Wir Phang Falls”. A well-paved footpath and a small wooden bridge facilitate access to these falls.

SHILLONG PEAK – Shillong Peak is the highest peak of Shillong. It is an ideal picnic spot located 10 Km away from the city. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, the Himalayas, its waterfalls as well as the Bangladesh plains. A telescope is available for tourists to get a birds-eye view. In the evening, the city lights below appear like a star-studded abyss.

SPREAD EAGLE FALLS – Located within the Shillong Cantonment, on the outskirts of the city, lies a sparkling waterfall which looks like an eagle with wings spread. Hence the name Spread Eagle Falls. The falls are locally known as Umkaliar or the falls into which Ka Liar slipped. A soothing setting amidst the calmness of nature – a treat to the eyes.

WARD’S LAKE – A beautiful artificial lake named after Sir William Ward, the then, Chief Commissioner of Assam. This charming little lake having facility for short garden walks and boating facilities – this is a popular spot for both local and visiting tourists.

CAPT. WILLIAMSON SANGMA STATE MUSEUM – For those interested in ethnic tribal culture and tradition, this Govt. Museum under the Art and Culture Department offers insights into the lifestyle of the people.

This museum is in the State Central Library complex, where monuments for the great patriots of the state erected beside the statue of Smt. Indira Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

GOLF COURSE – Shillong Golf Course is one of the old and best natural golf courses in the World, and is considered to be the “Gleneagle of the East” by the United States Golf Association and Museum. The Golf course provides a panoramic view. It was set in an undulating valley covered with thick groves of pine and rhododendron trees at an altitude of 5200 ft in 1898 as a 9 (nine) hole course and later converted into an 18 (eighteen) hole course in 1924 by Captain Jackson and C. K. Rhodes.

Day 5DAY AT LEISURE AT SHILLONG

You may even spot your favorite film star shooting their next big Bollywood hit at the waterfalls. 

OPTION 2: MAWPHLANG SACRED FOREST (27 KM / 56 MINTS)

An untouched forest that is the soul of Khasi culture, Mawphlang is home to the most celebrated of all the ‘law-kyntang’ or ancient sacred groves of Meghalaya.

Day 6SHILLONG TO CHERRAPUNJEE VIA MAWLYNNONG VILLAGE AND DAWKI RIVER

Wake up early and have your breakfast and drive to Mawlynnong. Today you can explore the cleanest village of Asia – MAWLYNNONG. You can take the sky walk. Spectacular view of the LIVING ROOT BRIDGE.

After lunch, drive to Dawki. Dawki is the gateway to Bangladesh where major export and import transactions take place. It is a splendid drive of 45 kilometers passing through deep gorges and ravines, which is certainly a thrilling experience. On approaching Dawki is the UMNGOT RIVER, The Umngot river is the natural boundary between Ri Pnar or Jaintia Hills with HimaKhyrim of Khasi hills over which a single span suspension bridge was constructed. Day 7CHERAPUNJEE LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

Post breakfast proceed for Cherrapunjee local sightseeing. Visit:

NOH-KALIKAI FALLS – A hauntingly beautiful waterfall, cascading down from the top of the gorge to the mystic deep green pool below, is one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India located near Cherapunjee, one of the wettest place on Earth. It is reminding one of the tragic legends associated with it, of a grief-stricken mother who plunged to her death, unable to overcome her sorrow over the murder of her daughter by her husband.

MAWSMAI CAVE – The cave located 6 km from the Sohra (Cherapunjee) market to the south lies the village of Mawsmai in the direction of the Bangladesh border. At the village crossing, one passes grasslands surrounded by forests, ending in a clearing. From this clearing, a concrete pathway through the jungle leads up to the main cave entrance. Inside the cave, you will find it illuminated, and it is the only lighted cave in India. The cave is having two parts (old and new). Of the two, the new cave is yet to be lighted. It has impressive formations of large passages and chambers.
ECO PARK – A large scale “Eco Park” established by the Meghalaya Government in the plateau, which hosts several hybrids and indigenous orchids in the Green House which was donated by the Shillong Agri-Horticultural Society. Also, the Eco Park offers a breathtaking view of distant Sylhet Plains of neighboring Bangladesh.

SEVEN SISTER FALLS – Seven Sisters Falls is also known as Nohsngithiang Falls or Mawsmai Falls is a seven-segmented waterfall located 1 kilometer south of Mawsmai village in East Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya. It gives a breathtaking view to anyone who visited the first time here is an unforgettable and lifetime experience.

Later trek to single decker route bridge (Optional). Evening free for relaxation. Overnight stay at Cherapunjee

Day 8CHERRAPUNJI TO GUWAHATI [4 HR 21 MIN (150KM) VIA NH6]

After breakfast, proceed towards Guwahati, enroute you can visit for KAMAKHYA TEMPLE, SANKARDEVA KALAKHETRA (cultural institution in the Panjabari area of Guwahati, it is the largest cultural congregation of the north east India and is also one of the well-known places to visit in Guwahati), Jagran – the shop of Assamese handicrafts and culture. Time free for leisure. Overnight Stay at Guwahati.

Day 9GUWAHATI AIRPORT / RAILWAY STATION DROP

After breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to Guwahati airport/railway station for your return journey.
